LibQUAL+® Feedback

Most of the responses we had to the LibQUAL+® Survey were very positive. Some people had criticisms, or, more often, suggestions for improvements. Here are responses to some of your comments.

More textbooks and e-books You asked for more copies of the key items on your reading list The library has received an additional £100,000 to boost the number of key items including e-books
You are strongly advised to buy your own copies of recommended key texts
We will provide access to more ebooks, digitised book chapters and journal articles through the VLE
Digital Library and website Some of you find the Digital Library confusing We have recently redesigned the library web-site to make it more attractive and easier to use
Access to PCs You don't think there are enough computers to use at peak times, especially at Cambridge We have installed 20 additional PCs at Cambridge
All our libraries now have wireless access for laptops
We now have location software so you can see at a glance where to find the available computers
The Fair Play Campaign encourages responsible use of PCs
Faculty PCs are available when not in use for teaching
Noise Some of you think the library is too noisy The main libraries at Cambridge and Chelmsford are zoned into group, quiet and silent areas
Bold signage has been installed to make the zones clearer
Please tell staff at service desks if you think others are being disruptive
Space You said the Cambridge Library was crowded External visitors are discouraged from using the library at busy times
Our University is providing more social space
Temperature You said the Cambridge Library was hot and stuffy Work is underway to improve temperature control on the ground floor and airflow to the upper floors, which should be completed by Christmas.
