Library Digitisation Service for Academic Staff
The University Library can supply academic staff with digitised copies of print materials such as journal articles and book chapters, in PDF format for use by students at Anglia Ruskin. This service is designed to support blended learning initiatives by greatly increasing student access to key readings.Please note
The service is provided under the terms of the UK’s Copyright Licensing Agency Scanning Licence and there are some restrictions on this service. The most important of these are:
- You can request a range of chapters and articles to be digitised, but only one chapter (or up to 5%) of any particular book and one article from any one issue of a journal, per module.
- The licence only covers material from publishers based in or with offices in the UK and some international territories
- It excludes certain categories of materials (maps, music), some publishers, specific authors and certain publications
- Documents are supplied in PDF format only
- Digitised documents are only to be distributed to the cohort of students who are registered on that module. You can make them available via a VLE or you can email them to registered students, for the period of the module.
- All scanned documents will have a copyright declaration notice attached
- The licence only permits digitisation by nominated persons (i.e. in this case specific University Library staff).
- Under our extended licence, you can request chapters and articles that are also available online as e-books and e-journals. Alternatively, you can provide links to them on the library website from your VLE.
How to use the service
You will need to:
Complete this digitisation request form which requires full information including:
the details of the materials you want digitised;
the module the documents are intended to support (including course code);
the number of students who will have access;
the start and end date of access.
If you have any general queries about this service contact the digitisation team; for specific queries, please contact your Faculty Liaison Librarian.
