University Library Researchers’ Event – Jan 31st Cambridge
“Getting Published in Journals and Textbooks”

The University Library held a well-attended event for researchers on Jan 31st.
Stephen Moore, Reader in Social Policy, spoke about getting published in journals, giving us some useful insights gleaned from his long experience of the activity. Dr Jonathan Wilson, Senior Lecturer in LAIBS, told us about his experience of textbook publishing with Sage and his success with “Essentials of Business Research”, 2010. A second edition is now in the pipeline.
Judith Wells, our Customer Services Manager, Cambridge Library, reminded researchers about our Inter-Library Loan and Document Supply Service, and Margaret March, Assistant Director Academic Services, gave an update on ARRO, our Anglia Ruskin University Research Repository.
For those of you who missed the event, the powerpoint slides from the key speakers are available here.

Speed dating for researchers! Free article…
This article is the first comprehensive review of speed dating in the tertiary sector. While speed dating has its origins as a networking technique to connect singles, it has only more recently made its way into the academy. Since 2005 universities world-wide have begun to adopt speed dating protocols as a tool for building research culture.
