Encyclopaedia of Forms and Precedents

Encyclopaedia of Forms and Precedents is a database of over 10,000 forms and precedents covering non-litigious practice, with commentary on the law and annotations. The database also contains a Clause Bank of over 4,000 model clauses. It is updated monthly.

How to Get Started
  • Encyclopaedia of Forms and Precedents can be accessed only via the Digital Library on the University Library website at http://libweb.anglia.ac.uk.
  • From the Digital Library Find Database menu, select E from the A-Z listing and then click on Encyclopaedia of Forms and Precedents to use the database.
  • You will need your Library Log in (library number and PIN) to access resources via the Digital Library.
  • Click on the red button Forms and Precedents from the Main Menu.

  • This is a basic guide to using Encyclopaedia of Forms and Precedents, please use online Help for more detailed help. Click on the Help link (top right of each screen) to access help on screen.

How to Browse
  • You may search or browse the Encyclopaedia of Forms and Precedents. We recommend browsing if you are unfamiliar with this service.
  • Click the Browse tab (left of screen) to view volumes of the encyclopaedia. The Encyclopaedia of Forms and Precedents is laid out in 42 volumes, arranged alphabetically by subject (for example, Volume 32, Partnership).
  • Scroll down to the alphabetical listing/index to find the area that interests you, e.g. Partnerships
  • Click on the plus sign + to the left of each volume title to view sub-headings. You will see that each section is sub-divided into Commentary and Forms and Precedents and Publisher's Note sub-headings etc.
  • Click on the minus sign - to close sub-headings.
  • Click on a heading to view the commentary, form or precedent. A document will appear in the centre of the screen with the contents list on the left of the screen.


How to Display Forms

On following the links, you may be presented with a similar screen to the one in the diagram below.

  • Click on Click here to view form - a new window will appear called View an Attachment (see diagram below)
  • Follow the instructions in the View an Attachment window
  • If Hotdocs® Player software is required to view a form, you will need to click on the Download Hotdoc Player link to install Hotdocs software. This software requires approx. 15MB of memory/space, but takes only a few minutes to install.

     

  • If you already have the player installed, click on the View Form button to open the form.
  • Use the Hotdocs tool bar to navigate and complete forms.

How to Print/ E-mail/ Save Text
  • Various sections and forms can be printed, saved to disc/USB or e-mailed by clicking on the relevant icon (right of screen, or left of Hotdocs tool bar).

How To Quit
  • Click on Sign-Out and then select OK to leave the database.
