are usually links to guides about the statistics or FAQ (Frequently asked questions)
on the page.
How to search
-
News items and the latest releases appear on the first page, together with
the search options.

- You can 'Select Theme' on the left hand side, by opening
up the drop down menu and choosing your topic eg 'Transport, travel and
tourism' and click on 'Go'.
-
Alternatively, you can choose from the options along the top of the screen:
UK Snapshot, Neighbourhood, Economy and Census.
-
UK Snapshot - key statistics under the headings of: economy, environment,
health, labour market, population, society, travel & tourism.
-
Neighbourhood - detailed statistics within specific geographic areas,
often from the 2001 Census.
-
Economy - latest economic indicators with links to more detail and explanatory
guides.
-
Census - results of the 2001 Census and plans for the next one in 2011,
plus historical statistics from 19th century censuses.
-
A third option is to type your search terms into the search box (top right)
and press enter. An advanced search is also available.
Save and print results
-
To print, choose the 'printer-friendly' or 'print this table' option
if it appears.
-
To save, click on 'download this table' if it appears or in some
cases, click on 'Download (pdf file)'.
How to quit
-
To exit and return to the Digital Library, close down the page by clicking
on the 'x' at the top right. If you are not returning to the Digital
Library, simply click on the home icon on your Web browser.
