How do I find out how many books I can borrow?
  • Undergraduates can borrow up to 20 items at a time
  • Postgraduates can borrow up to 28 items at a time
  • Others see Membership page for details
  • Most items are available for loan periods of 21 days, 7 days and 24 hours according to level of demand.




How do I borrow and return a book?
  • You can borrow and return items at any of our libraries using your University ID card
  • You cannot borrow if you have overdue items or outstanding fines




How do I renew my book?
  • Renew online anytime via our website. Log on using your university username & password and click "Renew my items", or by phone during staffed hours
  • Fines of over £20 prevent you from renewing your books online.
  • Please note that if items are wanted by another person you will be unable to renew them.
  • High demand titles will have a 24 hour loan copy which is not renewable.
  • Short Loan Collection items may be collected from the counter and borrowed for 24 hours or less and are not renewable.




How do I reserve a book?
You can make reservations on the Books, E-books etc page for items currently out on loan or in stock at another of our libraries.



How do I request an interlibrary loan?
You can place interlibrary loan requests via the Books, E-books etc page for items not held in any of our libraries, £2.00 per request.



How do I find out the details of library charges and fines?
A charge is made for overdue items, interlibrary loans, printing and photocopying. Full information is available from the library charges and fines page on our website.
