How do I contact the library?
You can contact us by phone or via our online enquiry service, which is an e-mail and live chat service.



How does the library contact me?
The library contacts you via your University email account about reserved items ready for collection, renewal reminders, overdue notifications. It is important that you check it on a regular basis.



How can I get help with finding information on my subject?
Each Faculty has a team of subject specialists. If you need more in depth help you can book an appointment with one of them.



Does the library offer any training?
The library puts on regular training sessions during semesters. Check out the training sessions section on our website. These cover various topics ranging from how to use the Library Catalogue to Referencing.



Are there any information leaflets that can help me?
There are lots of guides covering general library information, subject guides and guides to databases. These available on our website. These are also available in paper and other accessible formats by request.



When visiting the library where do I go for information and help?
Information can be found at various points:

Cambridge & Chelmsford

  • Reception Desk – help with basic enquiries and using library services
  • Enquiries Desk – help with searching for information on your subject
  • IT Help Desk – help with computing related enquiries, e-mail, e-vision, webCT

Fulbourn and Peterborough

  • All enquiries should be directed to staff at the library desk
  • There is a phone available for IT enquiries which dials direct to the IT helpdesks

There are lifts to all floors and hearing loops at all service points



Where can I find help and advice about other University departments?
Help is available via the student advisors. They will help you with issues concerning academic life and rules and regulations.

Student Support Services – Learning Support and Disability Resources Team:
This team will provide study skills support for all students. Also Services, support and advice for disabled students. For more information see the Study Support Service.



What is the Google search box? Is it the same as searching Google?
The Google search box can be located at the top right hand corner of the Library website. You can use this box to find information contained within the Library website according to your need. For example if you type in 'referencing' the Google box will locate all the information on referencing that the Library website contains.
