How do I print from the open-access computers?
When printing from the open-access computers there are some important points to remember, and a procedure which you must follow.

What is the cost?
  • Black and white printing costs 5p per sheet.
  • Colour printing costs 30p per sheet.

Before you send a job to print, you should check your print account balance to ensure you have sufficient funds. If you do not have enough money on your account, your work will not reach the printer.

How do I check how much credit I have in my print account balance?
The 2 main ways to check your print account balance:-

  • If you are already logged into an Open Access (library area) pc you will see a

    sign at the bottom right corner of the screen. If you double click this icon, a pop-up in the middle of your screen will appear stating your current balance.


  • Alternatively you can simply log into one of the money loader machines located in the Open Access area using your Anglia Ruskin username and password, this will tell you your current balance.

How do I add credit to my print account balance?
There are money loader machines located on the ground floor of each Library in Cambridge and Chelmsford, these can be used at any time to add credit to your printing account

Ready to Print?
When you know you have enough funds;

  • Click on File - Print
  • Next select which printer you would like to print your work to

  • Choose the printer located nearest to where you sit

  • Then click on OK to send the job to the printer.
  • You can then immediately collect your work, it will be sitting on the printer

Printer Names
The printers are named by the building they belong to:-

Chelmsford Library Printers are all prefixed by:- Queens

Cambridge Library Printers are all prefixed by:- CamLib

Lord Ashcroft Printers are located centrally on the open floor and are name as such:

CAM-LAB118-Minolta283-MFD-01

CAM-LAB118-Minolta283-MFD-02

The money will automatically be deducted from your print account balance once your job has printed. It is advisable to collect the job as soon after you sent it as possible.

Colour Printing - Please note:

To print in colour you need to select:-

Cambridge: Camlib-colour

Chelmsford: Queens-colour

When printing in colour, your job is held in a queue and you will need to visit your local IT Help Desk to ask for it to be released. This is to ensure you do not encounter high costs. Please provide your Student user name. Allow 5 - 10 mins for this to be released especially in busy times.
