Technical Help

Pilot is provided by Anglia Ruskin University Library as a learning tool to assist you with the development of the knowledge and skills you require to find, use and evaluate information. Pilot has been used and adapted worldwide since its original development By Queensland University of Technology ( QUT) in 1999. This redeveloped and enhanced version was released  by QUT in February 2006, and adapted by Anglia Ruskin University in August 2008.

We are grateful to QUT for allowing us to use and adapt their material

This online tutorial consists of six related, but independent modules:

  • Module 1: Determine your information needs
  • Module 2: Identify and obtain information
  • Module 3: Evaluate your information
  • Module 4: Manage your information
  • Module 5: Synthesise and communicate your information
  • Module 6: Use your information appropriately

It is hoped that The Pilot Licence, an interactive quiz drawing from all of the above areas, will be developed during 2008/9.

For an overview of the content of each of these areas, see the sitemap. For best starting points, refer to the help.
