Changes to QuickSearch
We are piloting a change to the way our QuickSearch for journal articles works when the 'field' (i.e. the part of the database record) to search is not specified by the searcher. Now, by default, words or phrases entered in the search box will be searched for in the title or subject of the articles rather than by their occurrence anywhere in the database record. This we hope should make results more relevant and reduce the number of unwanted 'hits'. However you can still change the field you search on in any search you run. N.B. QuickSearch is only intended to provide a broad search of useful journal articles - for more in depth and exhaustive searches students should use Advanced Search - Journal Articles instead.
