  • Accessible prior to module choice
  • Library aware of what is needed.

Transition notes

Lists were transitioned from Talis to Keylinks in September 2022. Some differences may still be of interest:

  • A list can no longer be attached to multiple modules  One list is required for for each module. If making changes, edit each list or edit one list and copy content to the other(s).
  • Talis import sections: a temporary section containing items that were not placed in sections in old Talis lists. Module leaders or teaching staff should rename the Talis import section or move individual items to other sections. This was a holding name for the transfer only - required because items cannot exist outside sections in Keylinks lists.

Introduction

This guide covers ReadingLists@ARU using the Keylinks software.

Access lists from Canvas ReadingLists@ARU link on left-hand menu, or from the Reading Lists landing page: readinglists.aru.ac.uk

Canvas courses will contain a link to your Module reading list from the left-hand menu.

This guide provides information to help you edit and structure lists, populate them with books, articles and other resources, and publish them so your students can see them. Request copyright cleared, accessible chapters or articles using our digitisation instructions.

Academic staff are responsible for updating module lists and keeping them current. For questions, support, or bespoke group training, please contact your Subject Librarian

**NEW** Keylinks has a new look and feel landing page and list view. Edit view and functions have not changed. Video overview is available from the Video help page on this guide.

Finding lists on Canvas

A ReadingLists@ARU link exists on Canvas modules. This should link to your module reading list.

The Keylinks reading list can be added as an external tool to modules within your Canvas course. Individual sections cannot be added but this will be present in a future upgrade.

Create an account when accessing your list for the first time through Canvas. When prompted, please confirm by clicking YES as shown in the image below.

Login is automatic through Canvas once your account has been created. Lists can be edited within Canvas.

Please contact Ros Francis or your Subject Librarian if you do not see your list linked from your current Canvas course or you feel the wrong list is linked.

Finding lists on the Keylinks landing page

We recommend editing lists within Canvas. However, you can also view and edit lists from the Keylinks landing page.

The Keylinks login page will be changing at the end of July/start of August - login options will then be on the right-hand side of the screen.

1. Login from the ARU Keylinks landing page

2. Click the login icon in the top right-hand corner of the landing page: login icon - white head and shoulders on blue background

3. This will prompt you to login with your ARU username and password (or sign you in automatically).

4. Find lists using the browse menu browse icon - three horizontal lines each preceded by three dots or Search using module number, title words or list owners (if module staff have included their names)..

Navigating within a list

Keylinks list view has been updated as of 31 July 2023. The look and feel of lists and navigation within lists has changed to include:

  • a clickable contents page to navigate to specific sections
  • clearer function buttons
  • within list search option
  • better visibility of digitised documents
  • date of last update shows on list
  • some functions renamed for clarity, e.g. 'Visible' instead of 'Unsuppressed'

Navigating around the list and basic functions can be found in the Keylinks webinar video.
