Borrow more, pay less

Changes to Library Borrowing Policy

Earlier this year we asked you what you thought about borrowing items from the library and how we charge fines.

As a result of this survey we’ve made some changes which we hope will help you when you’re using the library.

For Anglia Ruskin students and staff:

  • We’ve increased the number of items you can borrow.

All Anglia Ruskin students and staff are now able to borrow up to 35 items at a time.

  • You’re guaranteed to have an item for at least 7 days before you need to return it.

Items now renew automatically 7 days before they’re due back so you will have at least a week to return the item if you need to bring it back.

  • We’ve simplified the way we charge fines.

Fines are now only charged on recalled items which have been returned late, and laptops.

  • We’ve reduced how quickly laptop fines go up and they are now capped at £10.

Fines for laptop loans have been reduced to £2 per hour or part of hour, up to a maximum of £10.

  • We’ve reduced lost item fees

You will now only need to pay the cost of replacing a lost item, not the admin costs which we incur.
