Chelmsford Library: Roof Project

18 Feb 2019
Queen's building Roof works update:
From 18th February through to the end of March 2019 sections of the third floor of the Library in Queen's building will be cordoned off below the roof work overhead for your comfort and safety.
You will still be able to get to the books which are protected by polythene sheeting.

You may prefer to work on another floor at this time as there will be some noise from the work above.
An additional silent room is open to study in on the second floor (Que228) next to the lift lobby.

Thank you for your understanding as we improve the building.

We are hoping that the weather holds and remains dry and not windy. The final stages of work on the river end of the building and top middle of the third floor above the staff offices are being targeted this week (11 February 2019).

The next step is to dismantle the scaffold supporting those areas so the final section of slates above the second floor computer suite can be completed and then the next section of scaffold removed.

In two weeks time, the main work on the third floor roof will begin.

This may seem noisy for anyone wanting silence. Room Que228 on the second floor by the stairs and lift lobby will become a Silent study room and will be available later this week.

The very last bit to be tackled will be the small roof by the ground floor workroom - but this will be the end of March/start of April.

The works are projected to be completed by 5th April 2019.

Thanks for your patience as these improvement works progress.
