Library Collections

The University Library offers access to a wide range of resources to support teaching, learning and research at Anglia Ruskin University. Our stock consists of some 350,000 books and nearly 2,700 academic journal subscriptions along with dvds, music scores, CDs and newspapers. These traditional services are complemented by a rapidly growing "Digital Library" of online information resources including electronic journals and E-books delivered via the internet and accessible through this website.

Books
Details of every book in our collection are found through our website "Quicksearch". On the shelves books are arranged according to subject using the Dewey Decimal Classification system. ALWAYS use the Catalogue to track down books, and it is worth remembering that not all books are held in one numerical sequence on the shelves. The larger items are kept in a separate Oversize collection.

Journals
Our journals (also called periodicals, magazines or serials) are for reference use in the library only. They are arranged alphabetically by title on the shelves. To find out if the University Library takes the one you require, you will need to use the Journal Finder search option on the Digital Library.

Music
At Cambridge the Music collection includes music scores, orchestral sets, and CDs with facilities available for listening to all media.

Short Loan
Items which are vulnerable are kept in a separate 'Short Loan' collection. Items from this collection can only be borrowed for twenty-four hours or less and cannot be renewed.

Statistics
Frequently used statistical material has been grouped into a Statistics Collection which is arranged alphabetically by title.

DVDs and Videotapes
Our libraries all have DVD and videotape collections which contain a mixture of commercially-produced films and TV programmes. Most are available on 7 day loans. You will need to use the Quick Search to find them – search for title or subject and then use the limit filter on the results to find just DVDs or videotapes.
